Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen (วัดปากน้ำภาษีเจริญ) and its Golden Buddha have become a new landmark in Bangkok. Many photographers and influencers explore the city, even taking long-tail boats through the canals, just to capture its beauty. Stunning photos flood social media, with these five angles being the most popular.
1) Khun Chan Temple Overpass
Khun Chan Temple (วัดขุนจันทร์) is located to the right and behind Wat Paknam. Its overpass and pier areas provide a fantastic view of both the white stupa and the Golden Buddha, making it a hotspot for social media photos.
2) Trok Ta Lat Phu Rooftop
Trok Ta Lat Phu Café (8 Thanon Thoet Thai, Talat Phlu, Thon Buri, Bangkok. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM) is near Talat Phlu Market. Its rooftop balcony on the 4th floor offers a side view of the stupa and the Golden Buddha. The open surroundings, along with changing skies at sunset, make it easy to capture stunning photos.
3) Canal on the Left Side of Wat Paknam
Wat Paknam, also known as "The River Mouth Temple," is surrounded by rivers on three sides. The southern canal connects to the Chao Phraya River. Visitors can take a boat to admire the Buddha from the water or take pictures from the pier on the left side (when facing the statue).
Uruea Café (อู่เรือคาเฟ่) is another trendy photography spot across the canal. It’s about a 20-minute walk from Bang Phai MRT station. The café directly faces the Buddha statue, attracting many visitors. (Open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a 20 THB entrance fee redeemable for drinks).
4) Directly Beneath the Golden Buddha
The seated Golden Buddha stands 69 meters tall and 40 meters wide, completed in 2022, making it the third tallest Buddha in Thailand. Visitors from all over come to capture its presence from different angles. Looking up at it creates a powerful visual impact, as if the Buddha is descending beside you.
5) MRT Tha Phra Station
Tha Phra (ท่าพระ) station is an interchange for two MRT Blue Line routes. From the platform, passengers can see the Golden Buddha’s front view, gazing downward, offering a sense of serenity to all who see it.
