Bangkok Guide: Introduction to 6 Key Stations on the Monorail Yellow Line

The yellow monorail line operated by MRT had a free trial ride in May 2023 and officially began ticket sales on July 3, 2023.

The monorail yellow line has 23 stations, with a total length of 30.4 kilometers. The starting station is Lat Phrao, and the ending station is Samrong. Four stations connect with other transit systems: Lat Phrao station shares the name with the blue MRT line; Yaek Lam Salee station will connect to the upcoming orange line; Hua Mak station connects to the airport rail link and train systems; and Samrong station is connected to the BTS green line.

The operating hours are from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM (midnight).

Side doors show route and station info.

The fare starts from 15 baht, with a maximum of 45 baht. There are three payment methods: on-site ticket purchase, Rabbit card (prepaid), and EMV-enabled credit cards issued by banks.

YL01) Lat Phrao

Lat Phrao station shares the same name as the blue MRT line but is not connected directly. You need to walk through a transfer passage to the parking lot, take an elevator down to the underground blue MRT entrance. There is a food court on the first floor where you can relax before switching lines.

YL03) Chok Chai 4

Chok Chai 4 station is located near a traditional market (ตลาดสดโชคชัย 4), which operates from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. There are many food stalls, fruit shops, desserts, clothes, shoes, electronics, and flowers. The fresh market section offers vegetables, meat, and seafood. If you're looking for food or goods, make sure to visit Chok Chai 4 Market or the Chok Chai 4 Shopping Center.

YL08) Bang Kapi

Bang Kapi station is surrounded by two major supermarkets—Makro Lat Phrao BangKapi and Lotus's (Bangkapi)—and a shopping mall, The Mall Lifestore Bangkapi. If you enjoy shopping or want to avoid the crowds in downtown tourist spots, this area is a great place to browse and sometimes find great deals!

YL11) Hua Mak

For foreign tourists, Hua Mak station is useful for transferring to the airport rail and train systems. However, if you're carrying luggage, it might not be the most convenient, as there is a 200-meter walk and you have to cross a railway crossing. But if you're traveling light, it could be a good transfer point.

YL15) Suan Loung Rama 9

Suan Loung Rama 9 station is one of the most popular stations on the yellow line due to its strategic location.

1) Seacon Square (ซีคอนสแควร์ ศรีนครินทร์), once the largest shopping mall in Bangkok, offers restaurants, well-known chain stores, and even a small amusement park upstairs. It's a favorite destination for locals.

2) Srinakarin Train Night Market (ตลาดนัดรถไฟ), which opened in June 2013, is a large market with many stalls, especially for collectors. It's a popular night market for locals.

3) King Rama IX Park (Suan Luang Rama IX), open from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM, is a large park with many trees. Locals come here for walking, jogging, or family activities. During the King's birthday in December, the park is filled with blooming flowers, offering a beautiful sight. The entrance fee is 10 baht.

YL23) Samrong

Samrong station is the last stop on the yellow line and is connected to the BTS green line at Samrong station. You only need to cross a bridge to transfer, which is much easier than Lat Phrao or Hua Mak stations.
