A grandmother who immigrated from China opened a bakery called "Ama Bakery" (อาม้าเบเกอรี่), and the shop has been in Silom for over 50 years! The sales continue to thrive.
Although the grandmother is no longer here, and the business has been passed on to the third generation, the old traditions and production methods are still preserved by the family, ensuring the taste remains unchanged. The bakery also introduces special items for different holidays.
During business hours, customers continuously arrive, and the staff rarely has any time to rest, making bread while selling it.
In addition to the traditional toast bread with dips, filled bread is a mainstay. The best-selling flavor used to be pandan leaf jam, but in recent years, savory fillings have become more popular.
The filled bread comes in large boxes of 10 and small boxes of 5. The following 4 varieties are highly recommended, each with a unique flavor. Although they look somewhat rustic, you can taste the old-fashioned flavors made by the grandmother herself!
1. Filled with egg yolk or pandan leaf jam (สังขยา), large box 100 THB, small box 55 THB.
2. Filled with ham and cheese (เเฮมชีส), large box 140 THB, small box 75 THB.
3. Filled with pork floss and ham (หมูหยองเเฮม), large box 140 THB, small box 75 THB.
4. Filled with pork floss and sausage (ไส้กรอกหมูหยอง), large box 150 THB, small box 80 THB.
Additionally, the butter and sugar flavored bread is excellent, with 6 pieces in a box for 40 THB. It’s not too sweet, and the buttery flavor makes it delicious! It’s perfect as breakfast or an afternoon snack.
